Purging Disorder

Involves recurrent purging behaviors in the absence of objectively large binge eating episodes.

Signs and Clinical Features:

  • Self-induced vomiting without large binge episodes
  • Misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or other purging methods
  • Strong discomfort after eating normal amounts
  • Preoccupation with weight or body shape
  • Electrolyte or gastrointestinal concerns
  • Secrecy around compensatory behaviors

How Heroic Path Helps

Interventions focus on reducing compensatory behaviors, improving distress tolerance following eating, and addressing the cognitive and emotional factors that reinforce purging patterns.
